On average, every 55 hours a Law Enforcement Officer takes their own life. With Law Enforcement Suicide rates surpassing traditional Line-of-Duty Deaths, the Smoking Shields North Carolina seeks to build awareness of the psychological toll that Law Enforcement Officers endure on a daily basis. Please like and follow our facebook page! www.facebook.com/groups/survivethe55/ We will use this platform to promote our Annual Survive the 55 Hike, First Responder mental health resources, and continued encouragements
Each year in September a group of us embark on a 3 day-55 mile hike on Topsail Island. We do this to bring awareness to Law Enforcement suicide and the resources that are available
This years hike took place September 8-10th
